Olivia Steer and Craig Williams ran the fastest parkrun times in the UK this weekend (19th October).

This week our parkrun top ten is dedicated to the memory of Robbie Fitzgibbon. Robbie ran Worthing parkrun three times this year and had a parkrun best of 14:31 in 2017 (and a 1500m PB of 3:36.97 that saw him run for his country).

The Brighton Phoenix athlete was running Brighton Marathon next year to raise money for Mind Charity and if you enjoy this article each week then we ask that you consider a donation at the fund raising page here.

Olivia Steer of Exeter Harriers ran 17:33 at Exmouth parkrun to top the women’s rankings this week, a solid 16 seconds ahead of second place. For U17 Steer it was a parkrun PB and follows on from 800, 1500 and 3000m PBs this year, as well as strong performances on the cross country too.

Craig Williams was at Riverfront parkrun and clocked 15:24 to put himself and the Mickey Morris Racing Team (I don’t think this is Craig’s team anymore but you have to update that parkrun profile) at the top of the men’s chart. A second parkrun PB of the year, this time by 8 seconds, which is no surprise given there has also been two sub 15 minute 5k runs, with 14:55 at Armagh the quickest.

The best of the rest

Gabrielle Pinder was second fastest with 17:49 at Albert parkrun in Middlesbrough and it’s another youngster with a big parkrun PB. The U15 has also been improving across all distances and even chucked in a couple of strong discus performances this year too.

Last week’s first place Olivia Tsim remained in the top three with 17:54 at Cardiff parkrun.

Joseph Grange was the second fastest male athlete with 15:27, just three seconds behind the top spot. As it seems is this week’s theme, another young athlete posting multiple PBs in the year, U20 Joseph does have a slightly quicker parkrun PB of 15:12 and a 5k road best of 15:22.

Third fastest chap was Logan Smith at Norwich parkrun with 15:31 for the City of Norwich athlete.

The fastest event?

It didn’t take long for new event Battersea park to feature here. It’s a fast course, hence all the races in the park normally, and it has quite the local talent pool given the location. Three runners this week, but when will we see it on the podium?
