Applications for a championship entry into the 2018 Virgin Money London Marathon are now open.
The application process for runners hoping to earn a championship entry place for next April’s London Marathon has got underway.
To be eligible for runners need to have completed a marathon in or faster than 2:45:00 (men) and 3:15:00 (women) in 2016 or 2017. A half marathon in 1:15:00 (men) or 1:30:00 (women) are also considered qualifying performance times.
The qualifying time from either a marathon or half marathon must have been achieved after 1 January 2016.
The final requirement is that you’re a member of an athletics club associated with British Athletics. Additionally, you must be registered with your National Governing Body – England Athletics, Scotland Athletics, Welsh Athletics and Athletics Northern Ireland.
Runners need to submit their application by 17:00 on Monday 8 January 2018. Once you have applied, your application will be checked and if successful, you will receive a link, to complete and pay for your entry.
The closing date for completing and paying for your entry (if successful) is 17:00 on Monday 22 January 2018.
The 2018 London Marathon takes place on Sunday 22 April.

Following the announcement that the Brighton Half Marathon course in 2016 was 146m short of the 13.1-mile distance, the Championship qualification process has been reviewed.
Times recorded in the Brighton Half Marathon in 2016 for Championship time qualification for the 2018 Virgin Money London Marathon will be accepted if they meet the following conditions:
Men: thirty-one (31) seconds will be added to the official finish time.
Women: thirty-eight (38) seconds will be added to the official finish time.
