Jakob Ingebrigtsen and Josh Kerr will face each other over 1500m at the London Diamond League on Saturday 19 July.
Josh Kerr will race at the Olympic Stadium in London for the first time when he contests the men’s 1500m at the London Athletics Meet on Saturday 19 July. In doing so, he will face European Record holder Jakob Ingebrigtsen of Norway.
The pair have faced each other in a number of memorable races, the first being at the 2016 World U20 Championships. On that day nine years ago, Jakob finished ninth and Josh tenth. More recently, Kerr has beaten Ingebrigtsen in those last two major championships, including to become the 2023 World Champion. He also got the better of Ingebrigtsen at the 2024 Olympic Games , winning silver in a British Record.
However, he has yet to beat Ingebrigtsen in a Diamond League competition. Jakob has won four of their five Diamond League clashes, the most recent seeing Yared Nuguse beating both.

Ahead of the meeting in July, Ingebrigtsen said “I love to race, and the London Diamond League is a perfect fit for my schedule. I’ve recovered well from the indoors and training is going well. My focus is now on the summer and returning to Tokyo – where I won my Olympic title in 2021 – to win global gold. Competing in London is a crucial part of my build, and I know the atmosphere will be incredible”.
The London Athletics Meet is part of the Wanda Diamond League and the eleventh meeting of the 2025 season.
