Kate Drew and Ethan Primett ran the fastest parkrun times in the UK this week (Saturday 25th January)
Our weekly parkrun top ten is now sponsored by the Coggiola Endurance Centre, a residential coaching and performance facility in the Italian Alps. Follow on Instagram for more updates in the new future.
With the worst of Storm Eowyn past, plenty of people took to their local parkrun for a 5k run, jog or walk this morning. Of those, Kate Drew was the quickest woman. She clocked 17:09 at Burnham and Highbridge parkrun to sit top of the rankings. Kate is a parkrun regular, and that time is her fastest since May 2023. She ran at Burnham and Highbridge five times last year, with a fastest finish of 17:12. Her Power of 10 profile suggests she did not race (not that parkrun is a race!) outside of parkrun at all last year.
On the men’s side, Ethan Primett took the honours of being fastest, with 15:00 at Durham. That is a parkrun PB for the Herts Phoenix athlete, although he needs to update his parkrun profile to confirm his club! Ethan has topped the rankings once before, in April last year, but is clearly in excellent shape for some fast times during the year.
Best of the Rest
For the third week in a row, Edward Pettitt headed to Battersea Park in search of a fast time. After clocking 15:06 for the past two weeks running, it was 15:10 today that put him second on the rankings. That elusive sub-15 time in Battersea Park will undoubtedly come before long – will he be the person to do it first? It has been a while since Fountains Abbey made an appearance on the rankings. However, thanks to Jack Simpson running 15:28 it makes a return today! That time rounds out the top-three for this weekend, although it was close between third and fifth.
On the women’s side, Indira Patel sits second after running 17:21 at Walsall Arboretum. That time is shy of her 16:35 parkrun best, set at the same venue last October, but is definitely a good opening visit for 2025. We return to the famous South London venue for third place this weekend. Yes, you guessed it – Battersea Park. Mimi Corden-Lloyd set a parkrun PB of 17:23, thirteen seconds faster than her time on the same two-lap course last week.
Fastest Course
Taking five of the twenty fastest times, Battersea Park retains its title as the fastest course for this weekend. One day, it won’t be!
