Hannah Irwin and Ronnie Richmond ran the fastest parkrun times in the UK this week (Saturday 22nd February)

Hannah Irwin, once a regular contributor to Fast Running, sits at the top of the parkrun rankings this weekend. She clocked 15:55 at Battersea parkrun. It is her first parkrun since 2023 and, naturally, is her first visit to the relatively new Battersea event. Impressively, that time is not only her fastest ever parkrun but four seconds quicker than her 5k best of 15:59, set at the Podium 5k in May 2023. Hannah has run 15:37 on the track last year, but this is an excellent follow up to her 32:27 year-opener at the Valencia 10k last month.
On the men’s side, it was a tie for the fastest time this weekend. Ronnie Richmond and Seyfu Jamaal both ran 15:04, Ronnie at Bideford and Seyfu at Dulwich. That is Ronnie’s quickest parkrun, whilst Seyfu has run 14:45 previously. This is his fastest for a couple of years, though. Ronnie has only ‘raced’ one other parkrun this year, Seyfu doing the same but has raced over 10k and 10 miles.
Best of the Rest
Hannah’s time was 50 seconds faster than second placed Alice Crane, who ran 16:45 also at Battersea. Further south and closer to the sea, Atsede Gidey ran 17:09 at Exmouth parkrun. With a tie for first in the men’s rankings, just two seconds behind with 15:06 was William Strangeway at Market Rasen Racecourse.
Fastest Course
With a first and second place on the women’s rankings, there can only really be one course. You’ve guessed it, Battersea! It only made one appearance in the men’s top-ten this weekend (eighth), so maybe there will be a week where it doesn’t make an appearance!
