Gemma Kersey and Andrew Milligan ran the fastest parkrun times in the UK this week (10th September).

Gemma Kersey ran the performance of the weekend at Dulwich parkrun, smashing it out of the park with a 16:07 for top of the women’s rankings. The Basildon AC athlete went 36 seconds quicker than her parkrun best and actually faster than both 5000m and 5k so there could be new road PBs coming this Autumn.
In Northern Ireland it was Andrew Milligan who was the only athlete under 15 minutes at the fast course of Belfast Waterworks. 14:47 is a parkrun PB but a wee bit slower than Milligan’s 5000m best, but comes fresh off the back of a cracking August of 1500m running with a new PB of 3:43.65 at the BMC Gold Standard Races in Watford.
The podiums
Two other female athletes broke 17 minutes this week, at Central parkrun in Plymouth and Victoria Dock parkrun respectively. Pops Hainsworth, who we can’t find on Power of 10, or elsewhere, posted 16:48 to finish first overall at the event in seemingly her first ever parkrun. If anyone has a bit more information please do let us know.
Holly Dixon, of Cambridge Harriers, we do know a little bit more about and 16:53 at Victoria Dock is no surprise given the 16:14.33 Dixon ran at the Comeback 5000#2 earlier in the year.
The second fastest chap was Harry Smith. The Bournemouth AC distance runner clocked 15:02 at the Eden Project parkrun in the south-west. Smith has broken 15 minutes for parkrun twice already this year but has also set new PBs at every distance from 3000m on the track to 10 miles on the road.
Up in Scotland Ben Potrykus was third fastest male runner this weekend with 15:03 at Edinburgh parkrun. 2022 has been an excellent year for Potrykus and the first time under 14 minutes for 500m came this year at the BMC Grand Prix in Birmingham in May.
The fastest event?
The fast and flat Dulwich parkrun event in South-East London was our quickest this week with three runners, including the fastest female Gemma Kersey, featuring in the rankings.
