Nick Griggs ran the fastest parkrun ever this weekend with a 13:44 at Belfast Victoria parkrun in Northern Ireland. The young speedster is well known to Fast Running for his exploits in the track, cross country and, of course, at parkrun.

The 3:55 miler has represented Ireland and has a 5000m best on the track of 13:13.07 at the Morton Games this July in Dublin. His time today surpasses Andy Butchart’s 13:45 from June last year at Edinburgh parkrun.

The fastest woman today was Isabella Harrison, who ran an excellent 16:59 at Battersea parkrun, which is the first time atop these rankings for a runner at the South London park, which is a popular location for the English capital’s endurance athletes.

The best of the rest

Second quickest lady was Olivia Tsim, who has featured multiple times this Autumn and was just a shade over 17 minutes with 17:02 at Pontypridd parkrun. Belfast Victoria featured again on the women’s podium with Robyn McKee clocking 17:04 on a busy day for the popular event.

It’s not often… well it’s never happened before I don’t think, that a runner runs 14:49 and it’s over a minute behind first place. Luke Kelly was also racing against Griggs in real life as well, as he was also at Belfast Victoria. No prizes on offer for guessing the fastest event this week.

At 15:15, a solid time that can often top these rankings, James McCrae is our first non-Belfast Victoria male and third on the podium at Lee-on-the-Solent parkrun, which wins the prize for most hyphenated parkrun title.
