Alex Eykelbosch and Monte Watson ran the fastest parkrun times in the UK this weekend (23rd November).

On a weekend when many of our fast parkrun athletes might be running around Sefton Park in Liverpool for the cross country, there were still some quick times out there.

Alex Eykelbosch was the quickest woman by over 30 seconds with 17:14 at University Parks parkrun. The Dacorum AC athlete ran a 16:25.85 5000m PB in Wimbledon this August and a 2:36:26 marathon in London in April.

Monte Watson of Highgate Harriers ran 15:05 at Oak HIll parkrun. It is a parkrun PB for the U23, who has broken 15 minutes on both the track and the road for the 5000m/5k distance in 2024. As well as this there has been an excellent 30:54 for 10k at Jarrow 10k this October.

The best of the rest

Kate Drew and Darcie Hey were the next fastets women with 17:50 for Drew at Minehead parkrun and 17:53 for Hey at Gunnersbury parkrun. Jack Pickett and Harry Lawson were the next chaps with 15:07 and 15:13 respectively.

Also of note is Alex Milne’s 4th place, who is in his final stage of training for the World 100k Champiopnships in India in two weeks time.

The team are self-funding for travel and have set up a Fundraiser here for any who can support the GB&NI team heading out there.

The fastest course

An easy one this week with five appearances for Dulwich parkrun in tyhe rankings, led home with two 4th places for Milne and Poppy Palmer-Malins.
