Lily Partridge and Jonathan Cornish ran the fastest parkrun times in the UK this week (11th June).

So in the week that one British international runs elsewhere (Gemma Steel won a 10k in 33:54 today), another steps up to top the rankings. Lily Partridge is a multiple time GB&NI athlete and has a 5k best of 15:44, ran at the Mid Cheshire 5K at the end of April this year. The 2:29 marathoner was also only 30 seconds from her 10k best with a 33:33 at Great Manchester Run 10K in May so 16:57 at Alvaston parkrun was probably just a good workout.
The quickest male runner this weekend was Jonathan Cornish. The Hercules Wimbledon speedster is also clocking PBs in 2022 with a 29:22 for 10k at the Speedway back in January and has shown no slowing down since, with a host of excellent performances including a 14:34 at the Comeback 5000#2.
The podium calling
It was a 2-3 for athletes coached by Fast Running’s Tom Craggs today with Kirsty Longley 18 seconds quicker than last week in 17:16 at Southport parkrun and one of the fastest V45 parkruns of all time. Victoria Kenny ran at the tough Eastville parkrun with 17:49 being a new course record by three seconds. Having run 2:41 in her debut marathon in Seville in February, as well as PBs at 10k and HM this year too.
Great to see Adam Hickey flying around his home Southend parkrun, a course that was my parkrun PB (albeit a lot slower) for a while. The cross country star ran 15:00 on the often windy course, which is still 45 seconds slower than his own impressive course record of 14:15.
Third male was James Tilley with 15:08 at the wonderfully named “The Wammy” parkrun, which always reminds fo Champ Kind saying “Whammy” in Anchorman. It’s a parkrun PB for Tilley, who only started to feature on Power of 10 in December 2021 and has since ran 25:44 for 5 mile, 31:28 for 10k, 69:22 for half and 2:28:23 for full marathon. With nearly 40 seconds off his parkrun PB it seems Tilley is just getting started. Whammy!
Fastest course?
It looks like 20 different courses featuring this week, so no clear winner for fastest course, but if you blur your eyes a little it looks like Southend and Southport are the same word, so despite them being 240 miles apart if you ran, we’ll award a joint first place to Southendport. Southportend.
