Tony McCambridge and Rachel Gibson ran the fastest parkrun times in Ireland this weekend (September 7th)
Waterworks parkrun was the place to be for fast men’s times this week with five of the top 10 times. Tony McCambridge led them home with 15:50. The St Malachys man was a winner at last week’s Laganside 10km and is enjoying a fine year with big PBs at 3000m (8:41.84) and 5000m (15:04.68) as well as finishing 28th in the European Mountain Running Championships in July.
McCambridge was pushed hard to the line at Waterworks by Andrew Milligan who was 2nd fastest this week with 15:52. Milligan, who was 9th at Laganside 10km last week, clocked a 1500m PB of 3:56.09 at the Stretford BMC at end of August.
3rd fastest last week and again this week was Commonwealth Games steeplechaser Adam Kirk-Smith who improved on last week’s time to run 16:01 at Wallace his fastest of three back to back weeks at parkrun.
Rachel Gibson broke the course record at Derry City parkrun with a blistering 17:29. The Northern Ireland & Ulster 1500m Champion clocked a big 3000m PB last month at the Belfast International running 9:33.18 and was also in action at the Manchester International where she ran a PB of 4:55.64 in the mile.
Sorcha Loughnane clocked a new parkrun PB running 18:26 at Poppintree. 9th at the recent Fran Duffy 10 mile race in 66:24 as she builds up to the Dublin Marathon next month.
Sarah Baryga was this week’s third fastest running 18:45 at Marlay. Baryga was 8th at the recent Rock n Roll half marathon in Dublin and 2nd at the DLR 10km both in August and is a regular visitor to the parkrun top 10.
