India Weir and Adam Fogg ran the fastest parkrun times by British athletes in 2025
Firstly, parkrun is not a race, and everyone of all speeds and abilities is welcome. However, with the year drawing to a close, it is fitting to look back at the year’s fastest parkrun performances. A fast year it has been! A total of 52 women ran under 17:00 this year, and four ran under 16:00. The latter is something only eighteen British women have ever achieved. On the men’s side, fifty athletes dipped inside 15:00.
Fastest Male of the Year
Adam Fogg tops the men’s rankings after running 14:05 at Arrow Valley parkrun in August. That time is Adam’s fastest parkrun, replacing 14:29 from 2021. It moves him to fifth on the British parkrun ‘all-time’ list, behind Andy Butchart, Andy Baddeley, Alex Yee and Adam Clarke. Apparently, your name needs to start with an A to run fast at parkrun!
Adam more frequently races over shorter distances on the track. Indeed, he was racing over 1500m at the British Championships one week earlier. However, an athlete who has represented Great Britain at international level multiple times, he has amassed an impressive 117 parkrun finishes. His visit to Arrow Valley was his second, almost eight years after his first.
Adam’s next major competition will be in the mixed relay at the World Cross Country Championships on Saturday 10 January. Funnily enough, he will be joined in that race by the fastest female parkrunner of 2025, India Weir.
Fastest Female of the Year
Only two weeks ago did India make a maiden appearance at Battersea at 09:00 on a Saturday morning. Moving herself to fourth on the ‘all-time’ list, she ran an impressive 15:42 to set the fastest female time of the year. Only Melissa Courtney-Bryant, Sophie Wallis and Samantha Harrison have run faster.
It has been an impressive year for the Thames Valley Harrier. PBs have come over 1500m, 3000m and 5000m on the track, and 5k on the roads. A highlight came at the British Championships where she won silver in the 5000m. Her second fastest parkrun of the year, 16:05 at Dulwich in October, would have seen her into the top-five on these rankings. The World Cross Country Championships will be her debut Great Britain appearance.
Fastest Course of the Year
Four courses appear more than once in this year’s top-ten rankings; Alexandra, Battersea, Gunpowder and Poole. With four appearances, including a first and fourth place, Battersea features the most and therefore takes the title. Interestingly, it only features in the women’s top-ten. Poole, on the other hand, features three times on the men’s rankings and not in the women’s. Alexandra and Gunpowder feature once on each ranking list.
