Olivia Tsim, Stacey Smith and Finn McNally ran the fastest parkrun times in the UK this weekend (12th October).
This week our parkrun top ten is dedicated to the memory of Robbie Fitzgibbon. Robbie ran Worthing parkrun three times this year and had a parkrun best of 14:31 in 2017 (and a 1500m PB of 3:36.97 that saw him run for his country).
The Brighton Phoenix athlete was running Brighton Marathon next year to raise money for Mind Charity and if you enjoy this article each week then we ask that you consider a donation at the fund raising page here.
It was a tie for the top spot in the women’s rankings this week with Olivia Tsim and Stacey Smith in a virtual sprint for the line. Both athletes ran 16:57 at Pontypridd and Blyth Links parkrun and were nearly a minute ahead of third spot. They have both been top of the pops here in the past so hopefully they don’t mind sharing the honours this week.
Finn McNally, of Brighton Phoenix, was four seconds ahead of second with a 14:47, otherwise we might have had a double double. McNally led a large group of athletes to fast times at the popular and fast event in Northern Ireland.
The best of the rest
Katy Woodward was the third fastest woman today with an excellent 17:41 at Gunpowder parkrun. The Ware Jogger has run 2:46:05 for the marathon in 2023 (and another 2:46 at Tokyo marathon earlier this year) and just a few weeks ago ran a new PB of 35:47 at Vitality London 10,000.
The other chap under 15 minutes was Luke Shacklock of Harrogate Harriers & AC who ran 14:51 at Harrogate parkrun. The U17 has been flying over a number of distances this year with PBs from 1500m to 10k and there’s still plenty of more racing opportunities this year for the youngster.
It was another dead heat for third on the podium with Owen Hind and Conall Kirk both stopping the clock at 15:10. Hind was at Dulwich parkrun in London, whereas Kirk of Lagan Valley Ac was the next across the line at Belfast Victoria.
The fastest course?
It was a high scoring week with Dulwich hitting three onto the scoreboard, but Belfast Victoria took the win with five athletes featuring this week.
