Racing in a mixed race, Muir got her indoor season off to a fantastic start to win Scottish women’s 3000m title at the GAA Miler Meet in Glasgow. The two-time European indoor champion clocked 8:37.21 moving a step closer to the World Indoor Championships in March.

Her training partner, Sol Sweeney of Perth Strathtay, took the men’s gold to win the mixed race in a personal best 8:19.03. Melissa Courtney missed out on the World Indoor qualifying time in the women’s 3000m race, but still posted an indoor PB with 8:55.10, with Katie Snowden next in 9:13.54.

400m hurdles specialist Eilidh Doyle ran in the 200m and clocked 24.35 with Michael Dunn taking the win in 24.04.

In Sheffield, Jonny Davies (Reading AC) just held off Phil Seseman (Blackheath & Bromley) to win the 3000m race in 7:57.80 at the BMC Indoor GP.

Seseman also broke 8 minutes in 7:58.18, with Andrew Heyes of Team New Balance Manchester finishing third with 7:58.30 and Chris Olley (Tonbridge) came in fourth with 7:59.76.

Osama Meslek (Leeds City) had a massive breakthrough taking over 50 seconds off his personal best.

Jamie Webb (Liverpool Harriers) had a promising start to the season with a win in the 800m clocking 1:48.97 beating Robert Needham (Notts) 1:51.09 and Canaan Solomon (Woodford Green Essex Ladies) 1:51.63.

Isabelle Boffrey (Enfield & Haringey) cruised to victory in the women’s 800m clocking 2:07.37 to beat Team New Balance Manchester’s Anna Silvander and Katrina Simpson (Halesowen) who ran 2:09.87 and 2:10.70 respectively.

The men’s 1500m was won by Michael Wilsmore (Bristol & West) in 3:49.46. Dominic Brown (Tonbridge) took second 3:51.54, Eion Pierce (Newham & Essex Beagles) took third with 3:53.48.

Stacey Smith (Gateshead) who has missed a lot of running in recent years, took the victory in the women’s 1500m in 4:13.68 from Olympian Hannah England in second in 4:16.96. Anna Silvander running in her second race of the day finished third with 4:24.22.

Earlier on Sunday, Charlie Hulson and Caryl Jones secured the top honours on the roads at the rescheduled Telford 10K, with eight finishing under the 30-minute mark. Race report can be found here.
